Gitzo’s New Hero!

Gitzo’s New Hero!

I am please to announce that Gitzo, a makers of world class tripods, has finally added me to they’re “Local Heroes” program. I am in good company. Other “Heroes” are my good friend and fellow Lumen Dei leader David duChemin, and Art Wolfe (a fellow Lexar Pro and an outstanding photographer). You can check it out here.

This is a program where select photographers who have given back to their community are highlighted by Gitzo. I was asked to join back in August of 2006. But I guess it takes time. Why don’t you visit it and tell the rest of us what you think? There are some really great photographers linked to this program.

I have been back in the States now for about 4 weeks and all I have shot is a baby for a friend. (That sounds bad, doesn’t it?) So I leave Tuesday for three weeks in Thailand. A board meeting with an organization I shoot for. I really hope to carve out some time to shoot.

If you recall, I had quite a hassle carrying on my photo equipment back in the summer of ’06. Think Tank Photo a maker of quality bags has sent me a bag to review. It is their newest roller bag called the “Airport International“. I am excited to give it a try and write a review for this blog as well as for Lexar. Pray it makes it on time. They shipped it overland and it is due to arrive on Monday. I leave bright and early Tuesday.

I’m looking forward to hearing what you think about this bag – and wonder if it fits into the smaller jets we sometimes get crammed into, the regional jets.

I have their Airport Addicted and love it, but it be BIG! and without rollers it’s lighter than Airport Security, but I dread the moment they see this thing and demand that I weigh it. I’m outta luck then…

so, tell me what you think.

safe travels to Thailand. I’ll get in touch after I am back from Africa on April 01.

    David,

Yeah, the International is suppose to be 10 lb empty! So I plan on wearing my vest and if need be, stuffing the pockets at the counter with lens. You know the drill! -M
