Abu Dhabi Do

Abu Dhabi Do

I am now sitting in the Abu Dhabi airport and I gotta tell you I am unimpressed with the place. For such a fancy airport it seems poorly staffed and even more poorly marked with signage. The only transfer desk I saw was flooded with people trying to make new connections after a late flight.  No one was standing around to direct people or to answer questions. I waited an hour in a Que (as it was) only to be told I had to go to a different terminal. Once there, I still saw no signs that directed me to any other airlines other than Etihad. Finely, after asking several people, I found the generic Abu Dhabi International Airport transfer desk. Where four of us waited another hour as the man bounced back and forth from one desk to another trying to keep a computer, that looked like more like a 1960’s television than a computer. Finally, once I got to the man, I got my boarding pass in 3 mins.

I admit I am bias. But I have traveled everywhere with the exception of Africa and I think there is no better place for ease of travel, comfort and general helpfulness than South East Asia.

Interesting Matt. I had a very similar thought going through Frankfurt and Zurich during my trip to Africa except I was comparing to our airports in Canada.

New Zealand Air is a exceptionally wonderful as it's airport, signage, and people staffed there. Your trip sounds awesome but tiring. Hope you experience wonderful things while there.

Sounds kind of familiar. I did a number of transfers in Abu Dhabi when using Gulf Air . But your experience sounds even worse than mine.

Went out to Japan last year, and the airport experience there was just great so customer focused. Why can't it always be like this.
