Chuengdu

While waiting for the team to arrive to China, Kesh, a friend and client from a past Lumen Dei, Brian Hirschy and I walked around Chengdu. Chengdu is a massive Chinese city of 12 million. It is a mix of Chinese and Tibetan and I am sure many other ethic groups. We spent most of the day at a temple not far from our hotel.

The temple seemed to function almost like a retirement center. Older Chinese men and women seemed to congregate there to talk, play mahjong, drink tea and walk their birds. [1. They bring birds in cages and meet together. They told us when the birds are together they sing better.]

Tomorrow the balance of the team arrives and then on Wednesday morning we fly to Lhasa.

This young gal had what I call a Meg Ryan smile.  I walked passed her, stopped and had to go back, her smile was just to irresistible.

Kesh

I grabbed this shot of Kesh whilst he was shooting a long wall of Confucius sayings. Apparently this Chinese character means something like “beginning to be better”…or something like that.

I love China! The gathering of people at parks and various venues was always enchanting, especially when they would ask me to join them! You are fortunate to go more than once!

    Hi Matt,

I agree with Jon, really nice portrait with the 85. Enjoy all that Szechwan cuisine and trust the trip is safe and fruitful.
