Home Again

My Daugher Jess and my wife Maria (aka Alou) while in Malaysia.

Well, we ended up getting a new plane. The old one was taken away and a new one was flown in from Bangkok just for us. We left at 1 am from Bangkok, four or five hours late and still made our connection with our United flight. One new perk of flying United on all these trips is I have now managed to accure the 1K status in mileage. This give me complimentary upgrades to many segments. This time our family got bumped up to Business Class for the Tokyo to LA, nice.

Now to get back to work, doing some work flow on some images from this trip and back to my day job!

By the way, if you read this you can comment. I don't bite...much.

It can be really nice having your family with you while working, I have been able to do this many times. Just a shame about the delays with your plane. Nice image though. Ian O

Thanks Ian. Yes, it is always nice to have them along. Make the time go much easier. This time we celebrated 15 years of marriage on the beach in Malaysia. It was very nice!

Stuck in KL

Well, as I type this I am sitting on the floor in the Kuala Lampur International Airport with my wife and 10 year old daughter, Jessie, waiting for a new plane. Yes, the old one we were in broke on take off. It wasn't really scary, just kinda odd. The pilot was throttling up for take off the engines were roaring and we started to roll. Then he powered down and taxied off the runway. We sat in the plane for a hour or so and just waited. Finally, they had us all get off the aircraft and told us the plane needed a spare part or we needed a new plane. I voted for the new plane. We'll see what we get, the part or the plane.

In other news. Lightroom 1.1 is here. If you are a photographer and not using Adobe Lightroom, shame on you! Check out the latest at in at Rob Galbraith's website. This is an amazing application. Dennis and the rest of you need to add this to your "must have" list.

Hmm, still no word on the new plane or new part.

I got got word that the Temple Cultural Art's Center want to so a exhibition of my images. It will be in Nov of this year. Also, whilst I was away on this trip, Scott & White hospital as asked to show my images in their gallery as well. Some time in '08.

One of my idles, Steve McCurry is opening a exhibition of his images in Waco on June 30th. He will be there to open the show and do a short lecture.

OK. I need to go check on my flight.

Back from Lumen Dei.

I returned Sunday night from India and the first ever Lumen Dei Workshop and tour of North India. I must say I had a sidesplitting time with David Duchemin. The guy is nuts! We hit it off pretty good, enough that we want to do this again. Thanks goes out to the Lumen Dei participants; Chrissy, Adam, Nicole, Fred, Eric and Rachel. You guys were great. A special thanks goes out to the folks at Frontier Treks David, Jackie, Dallas,, Char and Gene for helping make this trip so easy. I also want to thank the folks at Lowepro, Lexar and The Travel Photography Network for their participation in this first Lumen Dei. I hope all you sponsors will join us again as we trek the hills of Tunisia!

We did a lot in a short two-week period. We had a lot of laughs and I hope they learned a lot. I really enjoyed shooting with these folks.

Many of the images are up from the trip. You can check them out at the gallery under “Lumen Dei”.

I leave today for Malaysia. I hope to be in email contact but one never knows. I am hoping to write an article for Lexar this week while on the road and David D wants to co-author an article for TPN. I’ll keep you posted.
