I traveled out to the back side of the island, Balik Pulau today in search of some creative inspiration. I am encouraged. I have found a new treasure trove of faces and culture. Nice way to say, “Goodbye 2008.” (Click on the images to view them larger.)
Kristine, I did not get her age, but she lives in a small house in a small fishing village. She told us she broke her hip some time back and she prayed to God to heal her. She said he did and now she is very thankful. She has an adult daughter that seemed, well, not quite with it mentally. I believe the lines on her face show the hardship of her life, with out question.
Peter, No, these are with the old 5d. Everyone is making me nervous, waiting for something special coming from the MKII. Honestly, with the compression and low res of the net, I think it will look just the same to the reader.
Of course it will. With the 21megapixels, 3.5 inch screen, Digit IV and your talent, the image will be 2-3 times better. Have fun with your camera when you get it… Happy New Year from Saigon !!!
fantastic portraits!
Have a happy and healthy new year.

Image #3 … I would love to know her story.

The first photo reminds me of Uncle Bill sitting at the kitchen table in KY. I am so impressed with your photos!!
Very nice portraits Matt. Are these the 5D Mark II yet?
