Multimedia: Food Heaven
This post is a treat for me. This is my daughter, Jessie’s first multimedia production. She produced it for a class at school called “Digital Media”. Jessie shot the images and mixed the audio. I helped her edit the selections and with Soundslides. I hope you enjoy this hard hitting bit of photojournalism from my 15 year old. 😉
Way to go Jessie! This is a perfect example of how the right blend of soundtrack, VoiceOver and compelling images can transport you to a place and captivate you. Superb use of wide angle, close up, motion shots and beautifully “mixed” audio. I was salivating by the end! Watch out Mr B that is one talented daughter!
Bravo Jessie! Excellent storytelling! You’ve shot some fantastic images, collected the appropriate sound track, and combined them together with the perfect narration. If this is your first multimedia production, then I can’t wait to see your next. Keep up the great work!
What a great job at storytelling. The background sounds were great, and the empty plate at the end was pretty much perfect.
This post should have come with a warning! I’m sitting here waiting for my dinner and the only thing that will satisfy me now is pineapple fried rice. Too bad you live so far away but at least I can make do with this wonderful multimedia piece. It’s proof that the (pine)apple never falls far from the tree (yes I know, pineapples don’t grow on trees…)
Jessie,
What a great first multimedia production! Nice work.
I’ll reply for Jess in that at the moment she is in School. She originally did this in iMovie. But I suggested we do it over in Soundslides Plus. Frankly, your product is tailor-made made for high schools. Simple and yet effective. I think it has a easier learning curve than iMovie and much more suited tot he photographer. Thanks Justin for a great product!
Very nice work, Jessie! To echo everyone here, I see and hear in your piece an excellent mix of both images and audio. More importantly, I see a part of not only the life of the restaurant, but a small vignette of yours as well, and I believe that is essential for great storytelling! I’d be glad to have you in my classroom anytime! Thanks for the presentation, and keep up the great work!
Jessie, that really is a wonderful production. I love the personal touch that your voice-over brings and the images are excellent, telling the story beautifully. My favourite is the empty green plate at the end, a perfect example of a “closing shot”.
You’ve managed to turn a simple event into something much more informative and engaging, I guess that’s the art of the storyteller. Have you considered photography as a career? You should. If only you could find an experienced photographer who lives nearby and who would be willing to teach you more.
I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future. Bravo!
Wow, nicely done Jessie! I expect you will do very well when your grades are returned. I reckon soon you’ll be teaching your Dad a thing or two 😉
Thanks Tim, She made an “A” on this project. We are all pleased.
Jess is at school, I am sure she will want to thank each of you for your kind comments. I know I do.
Great work Jessie, not suprised it got an A. Hopefully I’ll be doing something like this with my kids (their a bit younger) over the summer vacation (it will keep me out of mischeif). Anyway I know what to have with my Satay if I’m ever in Penang.
Jesse, I’m an old college roommate of your Dad’s and I loved your story! Great images to support a great script. Your ability to capture the motion of the cooking made me feel like I was there and even more hungry! Excellent job!
Congratulations Matt.
You did a great job influencing Jessie, with your craft. You must be so proud as she did a very good job in this multimedia. I guess, sooner than later, you”ll have a new artist at home. Keep enjoying your beautil family Matt.
Since I am the grandmother and don’t do photography, all I can say is I was impressed! You do excellent work, Jessie. I am glad you have so many pats on the back from people who are photographers. It is good to have so many favorable opinions.
Everyone keeps saying such nice things. To tell the truth I’m extremely flattered. I’m flattered, because you are all amazing photographers and you make me feel, well… amazing. I want to thank all of you for your comments. I’m thrilled that you all enjoyed it – Jessie
wow! I’m really impressed, although not surprised, you probably had a great teacher 😉
I couldn’t find anything that I would have done better or differently, everything was perfectly done.
Jessie, I hope to see you in future workshops with your dad so you can teach us a thing or two!
I am so envious of your food options! Well done…
Jessie has a great future in multimedia journalism. She did a wonderful job!
