Tanjun Bungah, Penang

I shot this on Saturday night. Thought you might like to see it. It’s my neighborhood.

my workaround

I also figured out a workaround for the BlackRapid strap till they come out with the new fastening system. It is simple and effective and why didn’t any of us think of it before? The small locking clip secures the cord from coming loose and is too big to accidentally open the gate with the plastic sleeve in place. Ta Dah!!

FWIW, another option I use is to bypass the gate altogether and hook the locking clip down below on the piece the strap goes through.

Ye, I was thinking of something like that… with the system you picture here, I’ll be even more afraid, for my part! (old climbing habits die hard… lol – secure everything, and twice is better).

One question though, why didn’t you clip the carabiner into the strap itself? That’s more secure. Not sure if that’ll be comfort though.

I see this is still a hot topic. I connected it directly to the strap on to the black connector slide thingy as well. If fact I snapped off the swivel clip and it slide right through the hole that was left behind. But both versions did not swivel and so the camera strap got all twisted. Not a huge deal but this way also works and swivels. I have tried every way to unfasten it and it seems bomber.

If BR could manage a kind of turning carabeiner it would be great AND really secure, you see what I mean (as my technical english still not so good…) ?

ive had the carabiner piece break off the part that attached to the strap on a metrosafe bag by pacsafe. my best solution is to replace the BR hardware with a quicklink as suggested by the BR rep in a previous post of yours. I use the triangular quicklink with equal sides vs the one suggested by BR so that it can rest on any of the equally long sides against the strap. make sure the side of the triangle is about the width of the strap. i use the same piece of 3mm(?) climbing cord to connect it from camera to quicklink. i experience negligible twisting. hope this makes sense.

I kept the current hardware but just tied a knot creating a tiny loop in the cord I use. Put the clip back on, thread the plastic gate sleeve on and close it up. Now the cord can’t jump the sleeve and all is as it should be. The way mine is now there is no physical way the cord can unclip unless the plastic gate sleeve break off or something. Can’t believe I didn’t think of this before.

Huh? (He says intelligently.) You need to send me a photo of it. Can’t see it.
