Interview: Jeremy Courtney, The Preemptive Love Coalition
Jeremy Courtney-Audio Interview
This post is very unusual. I don’t normally cover things that are not photo related. But, hey, it is my blog and I can cover what I want. While I was in Thailand back in August, I was able to sit down with Jeremy Courtney. Jeremy is one of the cofounders of the Preemptive Love Coalition, we had a nice long conversation about his work in Northern Iraq among the Kurds. I bring you this conversation because the Preemptive Love Coalition has become an amazing force in helping Kurdish children in northern Iraq and you should know about it. This is one of the most youthful and aggressive NGOs I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with and I wanted to share some of that with you. After listening to this interview I want you to head over to the website of preemptivelove.org and poke around and see what they’re doing. These guys have a great website that is clever, visually exciting, and dare I say it; hip. I think this is in many ways where the NGO world is going to have to go in short time. These guys know how to market, use the net and social media. You can follow preemptive love, and each child’s surgery on twitter HERE. I hope you enjoy the interview, learn something and maybe feel compelled to get involved. It is true they are unabashedly Christians, who link Kurdish Muslims in Iraq with Jewish doctors in Israel and Turk doctors in Turkey, it’s a strange world. Spread the word and let’s get involved. Let’s stop standing on the sideline when there’s opportunities to get in the game.
Thank you Thank you . Thank you.
The first for bloging about such an interesting NGO that bluntly I would have been unaware of without your blog;
The second for finding me an awesome example of how social media is being used to change the world – which I will use and show their site/twitter campaign in a couple of speeches and lectures coming up on Social Media in the next few weeks at a couple of business schools and indisutry forums
and the the third? Well the third Thank You is for you – you keep surprising me with unusual angles or posts that keep me engaged and wanting more.

Marco, thank you for your kind words. I hope others will find it interesting and informative as well as challenging. By the way, your URL linked to your name is misspelled. You may want to correct it so people can visit your site.
Also, if you really dig what they’re doing it’s pretty easy to sign up for monthly donations. No I am NOT with PELC. I just love what they’re about–for obvious reasons as well as because Turkish doctors are serving Kurdish kids. There is much misunderstanding & often hostility between these two peoples. PELC is not only serving the child but also working as a peace catalyst. Props to the Turkish doctors too!
Thanks -Schoolboy error. Size 10 hands, Size 8 Mac arabic keyboard! I’ve update the link
