Howrah Bridge

Howrah Bridge

Spent a few hours at the Howrah bridge yesterday. The bridge is a landmark of the area. It connects the Howrah Railway station to Kolkata. The station is the largest in India. This is a bridge that 80,000 vehicles and more than 1,000,000 pedestrians cross every day! I have never seen a bridge that is awash with humanity like this. Below the bridge is a major flower market and bathing ghats. Here are a few images.

Lovely work. I’ve passed through Kolkata three times and spent the odd night there but always as an arrival or leaving point in/out of India. I’ve not taken the time to explore it but after seeing these, I now want to.

I love the first image. It seems almost peaceful – which is definitely not how I experienced Kolkata!

Matt, I did not realize you have a 1D. Great pictures. Much better than the eagles. Just kidding.
